Chris O’Connor was selected to represent Ireland at the 2009 Youth Olympics Festival in Tampere, Finland. This multi sport event is organised by the Olympic Council, and with the gymnastics team wer Swimmers, Athletes, and Cyclists. Tim O’Donovan also travelled to Finland as coach for the Irish Team.

Chris was competing on Floor, Pommel, Rings, Vault, Parellel Bars, and Horizontal Bar, and performed very well, including a new personal best on the Parallel Bars.
