Irish Gymnastics Ltd.
is the National Governing Body for gymnastics in Ireland. The
headquarters are in Dublin, and the clubs are divided into 8 regions.
IG controls 8 disciplines: Men's Artistic, Ladies Artistic, Rhythmic,
Sports Acrobatics, General Gymnastics, Tumbling, Trampolining, and
Sports Aerobics. |
| Ireland hosted the 2003 World Special Olympic Games
in Dublin. Over 7000 athletes competed in a variety of sports including
Gymnastics. Several coaches and Judges from Douglas are volunteering
for the games. |

Homepage of ISTO - an intervarsity event held in Dublin last April with
about 200 students competing from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England and
Germany. Next years event promises to be bigger!

In November 2001, John O'Mahony & David Sheehan from Cork Sports
Acrobatics became the first Irish people to win a FIG Medal. They came
3rd at the World Age Group Games in Poland. More info from Cork Acro's News page
- Holly Murdock - Northern Ireland
Member of British Ladies National Squad. Came 14th in World
Championships 2001. Holly is from Belfast, and trains in Salto Gym Club
- Ailish Nolan - South Africa
Member of the South African Gymnastics Ladies Team. Competed in 2001
World Championship in Ghent, Belguim. Ailish's father, Charles is from
Kildare, Ireland!

sell all sorts of irish related ornaments, and goods. One of their
pieces is made from Bog Oak, and is called "gymnast". Click the link to

Reports about a Russian gymnastics coach coming to visit Ireland, and
concerns that he may be a security threat are debated in the Irish
Parliment!!!! Quite funny (note the year)
