In 2009 Mairead judged at the World Championships, and at the European Championships just 2 weeks ago. In August, Mairead will judge at the Youth Olympics in Singapore.  A well deserved award for a dedicated volunteer in our Club!

16th & 17th April was the date for our annual Tumblethon, which sees all our gymnasts cram in as many tumbles as they possible can in just 1 minute.  It was amazing to watch, with some incredible numbers achieved!  Congratulations to everyone, and a huge thanks to all who returned the sponsorship cards.   The event raised €2600 for the club, to help us in our goal towards a full time training centre. If you still have not returned your sponsorship card, please do so as soon as possible.

Five of our advanced gymnasts travelled to Belfast and London for intensive training over the Easter break.  February to May is the heavy competition season for gymnastics, and it was useful to be able to train in dedicated gymnastics facilities as the gymnasts prepare for their competitions.

On 19th/20th March, Irish Gymnastics, partnered with Douglas Gymnastics club to present a new type of coaching course. The ‘Springboard’ course is a new development that is being piloted with the support of the Sports Council to spread some of the gymnastics skills of balance, flexibility, co-ordination, and core strength to coaches of other sports. Nemo Rangers was the location of first of these pilot programmes, where the GAA coaches got a sense of how some of the skills we teach can be useful in their sport. The next pilot will take place with Rugby, and the hope is to have the course ready to roll out to all sports within the next 12 months.
