About Us

Douglas Gymnastics Club was founded in 1978 by a dedicated group of parents whose children shared a passion for gymnastics. Since then, the club has grown to become one of Cork’s largest and most dynamic gymnastics organizations.

From 2008 to February 2011, we operated exclusively from Douglas Community School. In 2011, we expanded to a second location in Donnybrook Commercial Centre, running classes simultaneously at both venues until December 2013. In January 2014, we moved all operations to our current full-time facility at Unit 17/18, Southside Industrial Estate, Pouladuff, Cork. This purpose-leased premises allowed us to consolidate our classes under one roof and offer an enhanced training environment.

Our facility operates seven days a week and is fully equipped with both men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics apparatus. We continually invest in new equipment to ensure our athletes train with the best and safest resources available. We are proud to have over 2,000 members and are an affiliated club of Gymnastics Ireland.

Our team includes qualified coaches supported by trainee coaches, and we are fortunate to have a strong panel of certified judges across both men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics.

Our ETHOS

Douglas Gymnastics Club is proudly run by a dedicated committee, with a shared mission: to help every child reach their full potential—regardless of the level of gymnastics they pursue. We believe gymnastics is more than just a sport. It’s a platform for lifelong learning, personal growth, and community.

While we proudly support and develop elite-level athletes in both Women’s and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, we are equally passionate about our participation programs, including Parent & Toddler, Junior Gym, Recreational, Teen Gym, and Adult classes. As our gymnasts grow, we encourage them to stay connected to the sport by offering opportunities to become coaches and judges.

Through certified courses and clinics, we promote leadership, responsibility, and deeper engagement with gymnastics—on and off the floor. Social development is also a key pillar of our club. We regularly organize extra-curricular activities, training camps, and attend participation events and national competitions, fostering friendships, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. We’re proud to have built strong, respectful relationships with gymnastics clubs both in Cork and across Ireland, contributing to a positive, collaborative national gymnastics community.

At Douglas Gymnastics Club, we strive to create an environment where every gymnast feels supported, challenged, and inspired.

Our Coaches

At our gym, we’re proud to have a talented team of Irish instructors who bring a wealth of knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm to every class. Each instructor is dedicated to creating a welcoming and motivating environment, ensuring that every member—whether a child, teen, or adult—feels supported in their fitness journey.

All our coaches are qualified through Gymnastics Ireland , are Garda Vetted and all have completed Safeguarding training.

Meet the Staff

As a mum, finding the right place for my daughter to not only stay active but also enjoy herself was so important to me. Since we joined this gym, it's been such a positive experience for both of us.
