Douglas Gymnastics Club
Hi All
The Gymnastics Ireland -Gymstart Challenge Competition is taking place again this year in The National Indoor Arena, Blanchardstown, Dublin on Saturday 5th/Sunday 6th March
We would love to give our Recreational Gymnasts born in 2011, 2010 & 2009 the opportunity to enter this competition
This is a competition where gymnasts compete by doing a floor routine and a vault. It is a fantastic opportunity for all the selected to go forward to experience a National Competition competing against gymnasts from other clubs from around the country -in a friendly supportive environment.
We will not know until nearer to the time as to who will compete on which day or at what time etc. Gymnasts will not have to be there for the full day/weekend just the session time that they will be allocated -but depending on the schedule it may mean a registration early in the morning for some gymnasts (i.e. 8am). You will not be able to change or swap allocated times.
To prepare for the competition, we have added 4 specific sessions for gymnasts to attend to learn and practice their routine.(Gymnasts to attend all 4 weeks (or as many as possible) to prepare
Sunday 6th, 13th 20th & 27th February
These sessions will be broken down into smaller groups and times confirmed depending on numbers looking to enter etc – session will take place in the mornings
These sessions will be dedicated solely to routine work in preparation for the competition. (Gymnasts will not spend time during their normal weekly session focusing on their routines)
Competition Fee:- €80 (competition entry fee, additional preparation classes & contribution towards coaches expenses) –BOOK VIA YOUR PARENT PORTAL ACCOUNT or via CLUB APP
Gymnasts will make their own way to Dublin.
Medals are awards for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each age group and there will be highly commended for 4th, 5th & 6th place. All gymnasts will receive a participation medal. Separate competitions for boys and girls.
For the above competitions gymnasts will need:-
Girls – Club leotard – Black leotard with Diamonds across the front (must have for the event) (out of stock at the moment but should be in before the event)
Boys – White club T-shirt & Black Club Shorts (must have for the event)
Club Tracksuit – if have one (no need to purchase the new one just for this event) or can wear a club hoodie and black leggings if have those instead.
All clubs participating at National Competitions must also supply 2 helpers to assist at the competition. Doing things such as taking money on the door/ registering gymnasts/ /lining gymnasts up/ telling people where to sit etc. You will still get to see all the competition so don’t worry. We will presume all parents are available to help and once we get the schedule we will randomly select two parents to act as our helpers (if for some reason you will not be able to act as a helper on the above dates please let us know when submitting your child’s entry)
If your son/daughter is interested in entering the above competition we have set up where you can enter them via the online portal – you will see it listed as Gymstart – final date for entries is Monday 24th January – we will not accept any entries beyond this date.
Please note this entry fee etc is non- refundable from Gymnastics Ireland – unfortunately if a gymnast withdraws, is injured, sick or cannot make the competition for any reason this will not be refunded.
Best of luck to all the gymnasts going forward
Any queries or questions just let us know
Thank you
